1.How have you been impacted by infertility (personally or family member)?

We encountered second round infertility. After I went through all the precautionary testing along with my husband, it was determined as ‘unexplained 2nd round’ infertility. We tried to get pregnant for 17 months before beginning fertility treatments with IUI. We went through 3 rounds of IUI, and on the 3rd round, our lucky egg, stuck.

2.What helped you cope with your infertility experience?

Knowing I wasn’t alone. Going down deep rabbit holes of listening to the stories of others. We were very lucky to have a supportive village around us, especially when we started testing and going to a fertility clinic.

3. If you could give anyone who is experiencing infertility one piece of advice/encouragement what would it be?

It’s your story, and how it is written is yours! From beginning, middle and end- nothing is “perfect” or “right”. We promised to ALWAYS be an open book about our journey, because infertility and fertility should not be taboo subjects.

4.How did you help those around you have a better understanding of what you were experiencing?

Making our experiences a part of everyday conversation. Yes, this was something different we were experiencing and going through, but it did not need to be scary, private or embarrassing.

5. If someone knows someone who is experiencing infertility, what is the best way they could support them?

Don’t ask questions but offer time and friendship.

6. What does a rainbow symbolize to you?

Hope; we don’t always see hope, but we know it is there. A rainbow allows us to see Hope.
